SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Green Bay men's soccer team dropped a non-conference match to #23 Notre Dame, 4-2. Green Bay fell down 3-1 in the first half and wasn't able to mount a significant comeback in the second.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Notre Dame's Alex Rosin scored an early 8th-minute goal off a corner kick by Nolan Spicer.
Chris Album then tied the match at one in the 15th minute with his team-leading (along with
Keegan Walker) third goal of the season.
Noah Lechelt had the assist. Wyatt Borso gave the Fighting Irish the lead back right away in the 18th minute. A late goal in the 45th minute by Stevie Dunphy then extended Notre Dame's lead to 3-1 before halftime.
The Fighting Irish extended its lead to 4-1 with a goal from KK Baffour in the 75th minute. Both teams put significant pressure on each other's goals, with GB being outshot 20-12 for the match.
Noah Madrigal scored a late unassisted goal in the 89th minute to cut the deficit to two before the game's final whistle.
GAME NOTES
- Drew Swancutt recorded four saves in the match out of eight Fighting Irish shots on goal.
- Noah Madrigal and Lechelt led the Phoenix with three shots.
