ROCHESTER, Mich. – After falling behind big early, the Green Bay softball team nearly made a nine-run comeback but ended up falling short in the third game of their series against Oakland 11-10.
Paeton Kringel was dominant in the circle, striking out 11 Oakland hitters over 6.1 innings of work.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Grizzlies opened the scoring in the first inning with a nine spot. That score remained for a couple of innings until Emma Krueger drew a bases-loaded walk in the third inning and got the Phoenix on the board. GB chipped away even more in the fourth inning thanks to a three-run homer from Jenna Redders to make the score 9-4.
Oakland added a run in the fourth as well to extend their lead to 10-4. The Green Bay offense kept at it, adding a run in the fifth, three in the sixth, and finally two more in the seventh to tie the game at 10-10 headed to the bottom of the seventh inning.
Unfortunately for GB, Oakland was able to end the game after a game-winning RBI double from Alexa Kownacki to take it 11-10.

» The Phoenix got three-hit games from both Kendal Herschbach and Bella Herman.
» Four Green Bay hitters had multiple base knocks in the ballgame.
» Green Bay left 11 runners stranded on base in the loss.
» The Phoenix out-hit the Golden Grizzlies at a 13-12 clip.
» The Phoenix drew five walks from Oakland pitching.
» Oakland was led offensively by Madi Herrington, who went 2-for-5 with a double, a triple, and two RBI.
» Alyssa Balcom led the Golden Grizzlies pitching staff, throwing one inning of three-run ball.
UP NEXT
Green Bay has rescheduled their series against St. Thomas and will play the Tommies on Tuesday, April 1. The doubleheader will start at 11 a.m. at King Park.
