GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Phoenix softball team completed a sweep of Youngstown State Saturday at King Park, taking game one 4-1 and game two 8-7. Jenna Redders went 3-for-5 with five RBI while Sara Ebner went 3-for-7 with 2 RBI. The Phoenix improved to 12-25 and will welcome Detroit to town next Sunday and Monday.Â
GAME 1 | Green Bay 4, Youngstown State 1
The Green Bay Phoenix took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 4-1 win over the Youngstown State Penguins in game one on Saturday.Â
Ava Schill (2-8) started in the circle and picked up the win for Green Bay (11-25, 4-13). The right-hander went six shutout innings while giving up seven hits, allowing one walk and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Phoenix got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Jenna Redders drove in two runs for Green Bay with a single, that scored Sara Ebner and Kendall Herschbach.
The Penguins failed to push any runs across before the Phoenix built on their lead in the fourth inning. Green Bay brought home a pair, with one run driven in by Ebner's single, which brought the score to 4-0 in favor of the Phoenix. Youngstown State put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Green Bay still held on for the 4-1 win.

Genesis Eggart (7-10) got the win for Green Bay (12-25, 5-13) after also earning the win on Friday. The Graduate Student went 5.2 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on three hits, allowing two walks and striking out six after re-entering in the seventh inning to preserve the win.Â

The Penguins failed to push any runs across before the Phoenix built on their lead in the third inning. Green Bay pushed across a run on Paige Hanson's one-out RBI double, which brought the Phoenix lead to 4-0.
Green Bay held Youngstown State without a run before expanding their lead to 5-0 the following inning.
The Penguins fought back, closing the gap to 5-3 until Green Bay added some insurance in the sixth. bringing the score to 8-3 in favor of Green Bay. Youngstown State put four runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but the Phoenix still held on for the 8-7 win.
