GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay men's soccer team defeated Bradley 2-1 in the final minutes of a non-conference match at Aldo Santaga Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Green Bay's
Noah Madrigal found the back of the net in the 87
th minute to seal up a Phoenix victory. With the win, GB moved to 4-3 in the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Bradley's Michael Switala scored in an instant in the fourth minute to give the Braves an early 1-0 lead.
Nathan Moua struck back in the 18
th minute for the Phoenix, tying the match at one.
Chris Album started the offensive attack with some good hold-up play, laid it off to
Justin Arias, who found Held, who eventually dished it to Moua. Each team had multiple shots but was unable to break the tie before the half ended.
Bradley outshot GB 13-8, including 8-6 on goal; however, each goalkeeper was able to keep the match tied until Madrigal's goal in the 87
th minute.
Dennis Nyame and
Keegan Walker both assisted on the go-ahead strike.
Bradley nearly tied it a few times late in the match, but the Phoenix defense held on.
GAME NOTES
- Drew Swancutt picked up six saves for the Phoenix out of 13 total Braves shots.
- Keegan Walker led all Phoenix players with three shots and two on goal.
- Each team received one yellow card on the day.
COMING UP
Green Bay returns to Horizon League play this Saturday at home against IU Indy. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. CT at Aldo Santaga Stadium. Green Bay and IU Indy each enter the match on three points in the HL standings.
