Phoenix Drops Pair at Robert Morris Saturday Afternoon

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - The Green Bay softball dropped two games against Robert Morris in Saturday's doubleheader, falling 13-5 in game one and 7-5 in game two. With the win, the Colonials completed the regular season sweep of the Phoenix.
 
GAME 1 | Robert Morris 13, Green Bay 5
Ava Schill (2-5) got the ball to start for Green Bay and took the loss in game one.
 
Emma Krueger led the offensive production for the Phoenix, finishing the game 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Paige Guse put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-1 with a home run and two RBIs. Sara Ebner also helped out by putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Phoenix got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Aidyn Messmann came across to score the lone run of the inning when Schill forced a Colonials error.
 
The Colonials failed to push any runs across before the Phoenix offense got back to its scoring ways the next inning. Green Bay plated two runs off of Robert Morris' pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double off the bat of Ebner, which brought the score to 3-0 in favor of the Phoenix after two.
 
Robert Morris responded in a big way in the third, scoring ten runs, and one more in the fourth before Green Bay added a tally to the run column in the fifth. Guse hit a two-run homer to left to make the score 11-5. RMU scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to force the run-rule.
GAME NOTES
» Green Bay pitchers faced 32 Robert Morris hitters in the game, allowing three ground balls and six fly balls while striking out five.
» Robert Morris was led offensively by Sequoia Dunlap, who went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs.
» Kaitlyn Molitoris led the Colonials' pitching staff, throwing 3.1 innings of two-run ball.
» RMU outhit Green Bay 16-9.
 
GAME 2 | Robert Morris 7, Green Bay 5
Jasmyn Trigueros (2-8) came out of the bullpen for Green Bay and had the loss in game two. Morgan Kostecka was a bright spot for the Phoenix, starting the ballgame and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Phoenix was trailing 1-0 in the third inning when they took the lead in the inning, scoring three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run homer from Emma Krueger.
 
After the Colonials rallied to tie the ballgame at three, the Phoenix came back and retook the lead in the fifth inning. Green Bay plated two runs off of Robert Morris' pitching, punctuated by a run-scoring double off the bat of Brooke Schwall, which brought the Phoenix lead to 5-3. Green Bay, however, was unable to hold that lead, as Robert Morris scored four times over the remaining two innings to grab the 7-5 win.
 
GAME NOTES
» Both teams finished the game with 10 hits.
» Green Bay went 3-for-8 (.375) with runners in scoring position.
» Green Bay pitchers faced 34 Robert Morris hitters in the game, allowing four ground balls and nine fly balls while striking out five.
» Krueger led the Phoenix at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs.
» Robert Morris was led offensively by Aglaia Rudd, who went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs.
» Kaitlyn Molitoris got the save for RMU out of the bullpen, tossing a perfect two-strikeout inning to close the game.
 
ON THE HORIZON
Green Bay softball will return to King Park for the 2026 home opener on Friday when they host IU Indy for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. CST. The three-game set will wrap up on Saturday with a single game at Noon CST.
