YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Green Bay women's swimming and
diving team tallied its second dual meet victory in as many days with a 170-117
victory over Youngstown State Friday afternoon at the Beeghly Natatorium. The
Phoenix women took 14 of the meet's 16 events in the win.
Senior Ashley Warzon (Sussex, Wis.) and junior Alyssa Danielson (Rogers, Minn.) were each three-time winners for Green Bay. Warzon
claimed individual victories in the 100-yard (58.45) and 200-yard (2:12.04)
butterfly events, while Danielson took the 100-yard freestyle (54.27). The two
also teamed up as members of the winning 200 medley relay, along with senior Renee Reindl (Pewaukee, Wis.) and sophomore Amber Bartholomew (Alexandria, Minn.)(1:50.05).
Danielson's third victory was as a member of the victorious 400 free relay
(3:38.98).
In addition to their relay win, Reindl and Bartholomew
each had a pair of individual victories as well. Reindl took the 100 breast in 1:07.79,
while Bartholomew won the 400 individual medley in 4:41.61. Another two-time
winner for Green Bay was senior Mary Stravinski (DeForest, Wis.), who won the 100
and 200 backstroke events in 1:00.88 and 2:11.79.
Additional individual winners for the Phoenix were
freshman Melissa Killpatrick (Elk River, Minn.) in the 1650 free (17:53.67),
senior Allison Thut (Green Bay, Wis.) in the 200 free (1:57.77), sophomore
Lauren Caruso (DeForest, Wis.) in the 200 breast (2:27.48), junior Shannon Demrow (Algonquin, Ill.) in the 500 free (5:17.66) and junior Kayla Deters
(Sauk Rapids, Minn.) in the 3-meter dive (220.51).
The Green Bay men's and women's swimming and diving teams
are back in action tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Cleveland State.
