GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay men's and women's
swimming and diving teams each kicked off their three-day, three-meet home
stands by picking up dual meet victories over South Dakota Thursday night at
the Dorschel Natatorium. The women's squad won 164-79, improving to 6-0 on the
year, while the men's squad moves to 3-2 following a 155-72 win.
On the men's side, the Phoenix had a winner in each of
the meet's 13 events, while the Green Bay women took 10 of 13.
Senior Alex Hill (Lakeville, Minn.) and junior Ryan Loy
(New London, Wis.) were each three-time winners for the Green Bay men. Both
were members of two winning relay teams - the 400-yard medley relay (3:31.88)
and the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.28) - while Hill also took the 200 individual
medley (1:57.43) and Loy won the 50 free (21.59).
Junior Shannon Demrow (Algonquin, Ill.) was also a
three-time winner on the night, taking the 200 IM in 2:08.85 and the 200
butterfly in 2:09.14, as well as aiding in Green Bay's 200 free relay in the
final women's event of the evening.
The reigning Horizon League Male Diver of the Week -
sophomore Daniel Pogue (Chisholm, Minn.) - had another big night off the
boards, winning the 1-meter competition with a score of 275.25 and the 3-meter
board with an impressive 323.33.
From the women's boards, senior Lauren McGraw (Woodbury,
Minn.) took both events, claiming the 1-meter with a score of 252.75 and the
3-meter with 239.55.
The Phoenix swimming and diving teams are back in action
tomorrow afternoon as they host St. Cloud State at 5 p.m.
