Green Bay Swim Teams Sweep Valpo

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay men's and women's swimming and diving teams both earned dual meet victories Friday night at the Dorschel Natatorium against Horizon League rival Valparaiso. The Phoenix women won 121-75 to improve to 9-0 on the season, while the men's squad took a 118-74 decision, improving to 6-2.

Jason Askew (Durban, South Africa) was a three-event winner for the Green Bay men's team. The junior took the 500-yard freestyle in 4:48.75, and was also a member of the winning 200 medley (1:35.97) and 800 free (7:11.74) relay teams.

Winning twice for the Phoenix men was senior Alex Hill (Lakeville, Minn.), who won the 200 free (1:43.19) and was also on Green Bay's victorious 200 medley relay team (1:35.97).

The Green Bay women's team had a quartet of two-time winners on the night, as Katelyn Bodin (Maple Grove, Minn.), Heather Bodin (Maple Grove, Minn.), Alyssa Danielson (Rogers, Minn.)  and Shannon Demrow (Algonquin, Ill.) each won twice.

Katelyn Bodin and Danielson were members of the winning 200 medley relay (1:49.85), while Bodin also won the 100 backstroke (1:01.05) and Danielson took the 100 free (53.93). Heather Bodin and Demrow teamed up on the winning 800 free relay squad (7:57.70), while Bodin also won the 200 IM (2:13.01) and Demrow took the 500 free (5:05.64).

The Phoenix women's team is next in action Dec. 5 at Cedar Falls, Iowa, while the men's squad is off from competition until Jan. 16 when UIC visit's the Dorschel Natatorium.
