keep coming for Green Bay junior Forward Kayla Tetschlag (Sheboygan, Wis.). Two
weeks after been selected as the Horizon League Player of the Week for the second
time this season, Tetschlag has been named the U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete of the
Month for December by the Horizon League.
"Kayla is an excellent lady. She pursues excellence in everything
she does and we're so proud to have her as part of our program," said head
coach Matt Bollant.
On the court Tetschlag averaged team-highs of 17.3 points and
7.8 rebounds per game during the month of December. She scored at least 16
points in five of six games last month, which included her first career
double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds in Green Bay's win over Southern
Illinois (Dec. 28).
In the classroom Tetschlag maintains a 3.73 grade-point
average and finished the fall semester with a cumulative g.p.a. of 3.78. In
addition Tetschlag has been named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll and
the Green Bay Dean's List during her career. In December, she was also the
recipient of the Who's Who Among Students in College Universities award which
is given to students who demonstrate academic success and campus and community
involvement.
The Horizon League instated the U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete of
the Month awards as a way to recognize outstanding academic and athletic
achievement by its student-athletes. Winners are selected by the League's
faculty athletics representatives, from nominations provided by sports
information directors.
