JANUARY 14, 2010 - Awards keep coming for Green Bay junior Forward Kayla Tetschlag (Sheboygan, Wis.). Two weeks after been selected as the Horizon League Player of the Week for the second time this season, Tetschlag has been named the U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete of the Month for December by the Horizon League.

"Kayla is an excellent lady. She pursues excellence in everything she does and we're so proud to have her as part of our program," said head coach Matt Bollant.

On the court Tetschlag averaged team-highs of 17.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game during the month of December. She scored at least 16 points in five of six games last month, which included her first career double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds in Green Bay's win over Southern Illinois (Dec. 28).

In the classroom Tetschlag maintains a 3.73 grade-point average and finished the fall semester with a cumulative g.p.a. of 3.78. In addition Tetschlag has been named to the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll and the Green Bay Dean's List during her career. In December, she was also the recipient of the Who's Who Among Students in College Universities award which is given to students who demonstrate academic success and campus and community involvement.

The Horizon League instated the U.S. Army Scholar-Athlete of the Month awards as a way to recognize outstanding academic and athletic achievement by its student-athletes. Winners are selected by the League's faculty athletics representatives, from nominations provided by sports information directors.
