Swimming & Diving Splits with UIC

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay men's and women's swimming and diving teams were back in action Saturday afternoon for the first time since returning from their annual training trip to Florida, playing host to Horizon League rival UIC at the Dorschel Natatorium. The Phoenix women improved to 11-1 in dual meets this season, winning 153-85, while the men's squad fell 136-107 to move to 6-3.

It was Senior Day for the Phoenix, as the swimming and diving program recognized its 13 seniors before the meet began.

Junior Deanna DeGrand (Green Bay, Wis.) had a solid day for the Green Bay women, taking the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:31.06 and the 500 free in 5:08.16.

Senior Ashley Warzon (Sussex, Wis.) celebrated Senior Day by setting a new pool record in the 200 butterfly. Warzon cruised to a victory with a time of 2:07.35.

On the diving boards, Phoenix standouts Daniel Pogue (Chisholm, Minn.) and Lauren McGraw (Woodbury, Minn.) each had big days. Pogue took the 1-meter (285.23) and 3-meter (258.00) events, while McGraw also won both boards (1-meter: 264.83, 3-meter: 258.15).

The Phoenix men and women are back in the water next Saturday, Jan. 23, when they head downstate to face off against the Wisconsin Badgers. The meet is scheduled for 2 p.m.
