NORMAL, Ill. - The Green Bay women's swimming and diving
team earned its 12th dual meet victory of the season (12-2) Saturday afternoon,
as the Phoenix earned a 190-110 victory over Illinois State at Horton Pool.
Green Bay had a winner in 12 of the meet's 16 events in the team's penultimate
meet of the regular season.
Phoenix junior Shannon Demrow (Algonquin, Ill.) was a
two-time individual winner in the meet, taking the 200-yard butterfly in
2:08.34 and the 200 individual medley in 2:10.79.
Lauren McGraw (Woodbury, Minn.) - the reigning Horizon
League Diver of the Week - had another strong showing, winning both diving
events. The senior scored an impressive 273.68 from the 3-meter board after
taking the 1-meter event with a 234.90.
Green Bay also benefited from a big day from junior
Katelyn Bodin (Maple Grove, Minn.). Bodin was a member of two first-place relay
squads and also won the 100 freestyle in 54.26.
Additional individual winners for the Phoenix winners
were: Mary Stravinski (DeForest, Wis.) in the 100 backstroke (59.74), Renee Reindl (Pewaukee, Wis.) in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.86), Alyssa Danielson
(Rogers, Minn.) in the 50 freestyle (24.91), Lauren Caruso (DeForest, Wis.) in
the 200 breast and Ashley Warzon (Sussex, Wis.) in the 100 fly.
The Phoenix women and men are back in action next
Saturday, Feb. 6 when they travel to in-state Horizon League rival Milwaukee
for the regular season finale at 1 p.m.
