GREEN BAY, Wis. - The
No. 18/18 Green Bay (14-0, 3-0) women's basketball team won their 33rd
consecutive regular season conference game as they took care of Wright State (4-8,
0-2) with a 68-41 win.
Sophomore Julie Wojta (Mishicot, Wis.) had another stellar
performance as she shot a perfect 10-10 setting a Kress Center record for field
goal percentage. Wojta put up her fourth 20-point game of the season leading
all scorers with 21 points, tied a career-high four steals and had three
assists.
"I got some great
post passes which makes it easy to score," said Wojta. "She's so talented. Her
ability to go get lobs off the pass is so good and makes her really tough to
guard," said head coach Matt Bollant.
Celesete Hoewisch (Hortonville, Wis.) drained two
three-pointers as she contributed 10 points and grabbed a team high four rebounds
in the first half of action, "I was just taking my time with my shots and was
trying to be tough with the ball," said Hoewisch.
The Phoenix took a 32-17 lead into the locker room after a
3-pointer by Hannah Quilling (Eau Claire, Wis.) just prior to the horn, capping
off an 8-0 run to end the half.
The Phoenix kept rolling in the second half shooting a solid
61.9 percent. Green Bay forced Wright State to turn the ball over 30 times and
capitalized scoring 36 points off the Raiders' miscues. Wright State's 41
points is the third fewest allowed by the Phoenix this season.
Hoewisch finished the game with 14 points, six assists and led
the Phoenix with six rebounds while Tetschlag added 10 points.
Meanwhile LaShawna Thomas topped Wright State with 15 points.
Green Bay will be back in action Saturday as they host Detroit (4-9, 2-0)
who is coming off a 59-57 win over Milwaukee.
