MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Green Bay men's tennis team fell to 2-4 on the season after suffering
a 6-1 setback to the Marquette Golden Eagle Friday night at the Helfaer
Tennis Stadium. Marquette stayed unbeaten on the year, improving to
6-0.
Phoenix sophomore
Paul Swanson (Coon Rapids, Minn.) continued his strong season by picking up a three-set
win at No. 2 singles. Swanson's 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 triumph came against the nation's
124th-ranked player, Jacob Strauss.
At No. 3
singles, Matt Clegg (Stevens Point, Wis.) was the only other Green Bay player
to take a match to three sets, as he fell 2-6, 6-4, 1-0.
Marquette
opened the night by sweeping the doubles competition, but Fabian Gogolin (Cologne,
Germany) and Clegg took the Golden Eagles' top team to the wire, falling 8-7.
