MUNCIE, Ind.
- Green Bay had its three-match winning streak come to an end on Sunday with a
7-0 loss at Ball State. Green Bay had won
its first two contests in the state of Indiana over the weekend prior to
switching to face the Ball State men's tennis team in Muncie.
When Matt Clegg (Stevens Point, Wis.) and Marko Skoric (Zagreb, Croatia) opened with an impressive
8-2 win at No. 2 doubles, Green Bay started off doing well, but it ended
poorly. After dropping an 8-4 decision at No. 3, the Phoenix lost a
heartbreaker at No. 1. Fabian Gogolin (Cologne, Germany) and Paul Swanson (Coon
Rapids, Minn.) lost 9-8 (7-3) in a tiebreaker.
Clegg,
at No. 3 singles, and Josh Oothoudt (Minot, N.D.), at No. 6, each took their
foes to three sets before falling.
Green Bay is
now 5-5 on the season. The team continues its busy slate with a pair of home
dual matches on Friday night. The Phoenix will face St. Norbert and
UW-Whitewater at Western Racquet.
