COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Green Bay divers Daniel Pogue
(Chisholm, Minn.), Lauren McGraw (Woodbury, Minn.) and Kayla Deters (Sauk
Rapids, Minn.) wrapped up their participation at the NCAA Zone D Diving
Championships on Saturday at the Texas A&M University Student Rec
Natatorium.
On the men's 1-meter board, Pogue turned in a 14th-place
finish out of 25 competitors with a score of 530.05. The sophomore became the first
diver in Green Bay history - male or female - to make the finals in both the
1-meter and 3-meter events at an NCAA Zone meet. Pogue placed 16th in the
3-meter on Friday (578.60), which was the highest finish for a Phoenix diver in
the event at a Zone competition.
McGraw finished her Green Bay career by placing 30th
of 40 divers on the 3-meter board with a score of 233.40, improving upon her
31st-place finish in the event a year ago. The senior's score was good for her
best six-dive total for any of the three Zone meets in which she competed throughout
her career.
"I am so happy to have Lauren finish well in her
final competition for us," Phoenix diving coach Tom Stover said. "We had
some issues with our travel to this meet because of poor weather, so the
divers had only a few hours of sleep before their first day of competition down
here. Under those circumstances, I think that made it difficult for
them to get comfortable and be able to put together their best
performances. However, I know they gave it their best and I am pleased
with how things turned out."
Deters wrapped up her junior season with a 35th-place
showing on the 3-meter board, accumulating a score of 219.45.
Green Bay junior Wilson Robinson (Hibbing, Minn.) also
earned a berth to the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships by virtue of his score
at the 2010 Horizon League Championships last month in Chicago. Due to
weather-related travel complications, Robinson was unable to make the trip.
