- The Green Bay women's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule on
Friday with a 7-0 victory
over Robert Morris University at Oak Park Tennis Center. The Phoenix
won all three doubles matches and swept the six singles matches in the
win.
"I was very impressed with our play today," Phoenix head coach
Sara Schubring said. "Our doubles teams set each other up very
well and overall the team is playing smarter, which has led to better
consistency and more points won."
Green Bay came from behind in each of the top three singles matches, as
Jennifer Bradfield (Fairfield, Iowa), Morgan Weuve (Green Bay, Wis.) and
Amanda Timm (Milwaukee, Wis.) all picked up three-set victories.
After dropping the first set at No. 1 singles, Bradfield rallied back to
earn a 2-6, 6-1, 6-1 win over Alejandra Gamboa. At No. 2, Weuve
defeated Anastasia Khabisova 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 and Timm
took down Ana Kostic at the No. 3 spot 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
Bradfield and Weuve also teamed up to win the No. 1 doubles match 8-1 over Gamboa and Stephanie Messina.
