Chicago, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) ---The Green bay women's tennis team picked up a bounce back win against Eastern Illinois this afternoon by the final score of 4-3.
The close match began with the Panthers stealing the first point in doubles.
However, senior
Theresa Tebon got the Phoenix right back into the mix by defeating EIU's Shaianne Looney 6-1, 6-3 in No. 6 singles.
EIU took the 2-1 lead with a win in No. 1 singles before sophomore
Yasmin Glazbrook claimed the victory in No. 2 singles by the score of 6-1, 6-4.
Sophomore
Mia Melnizki then gave Green Bay their first lead of the match by securing the No. 4 spot 6-4, 6-3.
Despite losing the first set in No. 3 singles 1-6, sophomore
Tiana Glazbrook stepped up for the Phoenix by taking the close second set 7-5. Glazbrook then took over in the third set, breezing by her opponent 6-1 to not only clinch the win for herself but most importantly earning Green Bay their critical fourth point for the match.
"Today was a great win for our ladies," stated head coach Rob Oertel. "Very proud with our poise today and Tiana came up big by battling through and turning her match around to clinch the victory."
