GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Green Bay
freshman Ben Loeffelholz (Dubuque, Iowa) has been selected as the
Horizon League Men's Swimmer of the Week for the period of Dec. 5-11, the
conference office announced on Tuesday. It marks the first weekly honor of his
young career.
Loeffelholz won a pair of
individual events in Green Bay's dual meet victory over Valparaiso on Saturday.
The freshman took the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 53.84, while also
touching in first in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.91.
Loeffelholz is the first
Green Bay men's swimmer to be named Horizon League Swimmer of the Week since
former Phoenix standout Alex Hill won the award on Oct. 17, 2007.
The Green Bay men's and
women's swimming and diving teams are preparing to depart for Venice, Fla., for
their annual winter training trip. The Phoenix squads will be in Florida from
Jan. 2-11 and will compete against Illinois Wesleyan on the evening of their arrival.
