GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) -
As one of six ranked teams to suffer a loss Thursday, the
No. 9/9 Green Bay (20-1, 10-1 HL) women's basketball team looks to get back on
the winning track Saturday, Feb. 11 as it hosts second place Wright State
(16-8, 9-3 HL) at 2 p.m. at the Kress Events Center. Saturday's game wraps up
Green Bay's three-game homestand, its longest of the season.
Green Bay enters Saturday's contest coming off its first regular season
loss in 41 games, following a 70-58 loss to Detroit Thursday, Feb. 9. Its
40-consecutive regular season wins is the longest streak in the history of the
38-year old program. With its 20-1 record, Green Bay has notched its 13th
consecutive 20-win season.
Wright State comes to the Kress Events Center following a 64-52 win over
Milwaukee in which senior Molly Fox poured in a game-high 21 points and 12
rebounds in the win.
The Raiders are one of four teams in the Horizon League Green Bay head coach
Matt Bollant has never lost to. Bollant is 11-0 against Wright State, 10-0
against Butler, 12-0 against in-state rival Milwaukee and 9-0 against
Youngstown State.
Saturday the Phoenix looks to return one of its top defenders in junior Sarah
Eichler (Grafton, Wis.) who missed Thursday's game against Detroit after
suffering an ankle sprain Feb. 7 in practice. It is uncertain if Eichler will
start the game but Bollant plans to get the tough defender minutes in the
contest.
ABOUT THE SERIES... Green Bay owns an overall series record of 46-4 against the Raiders and 24-0
record at Green Bay. Wright State's last victory over the Phoenix was a 76-62
win Jan. 5, 2004 in Dayton, Ohio.
LAST MEETING (Jan. 12, 2012)... In the tough Nutter Center, Wright
State opened the contest with its biggest lead of the game, 6-0, before Julie
Wojta (Francis Creek, Wis.) put the Phoenix on the board with one of her two
three pointers. In the first half of play, Wojta had already recorded her
eighth double double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Wojta
finished the game with a career and game-high 17 rebounds while pouring in a
game-high 22 points and grabbing a game-high seven steals.
Green Bay held the Raiders scoreless
for four minutes in the first half while going on a 15-2 run. In its win, the
Phoenix forced Wright State to turn the ball over a season-high 31 times.
LEAGUE LEADERS... Green Bay leads the Horizon League in
five of the 10 major statistical categories including scoring offense (73.0
ppg), scoring defense (51.3), scoring margin (+21.7) free throw percentage
(.779), 3-point FG percentage defense (.276). Wojta leads the league in steals
with 3.9 picks per contest while Lydia Bauer is leading all players shooting 96
percent from the free throw line against conference opponents. Wojta is sixth
in scoring, averaging 16.6 points per game and fifth in rebounding with 9.2
boards per contest against Horizon League opponents.
Meanwhile Wright State leads the league
in field goal percentage defense (35.4 percent) while Fox is one of the top
three rebounders, grabbing an average of 9.8 boards per contest.

all alumni in attendance will be recognized at halftime. The annual alumni game
will be held at 11 a.m. at the Kress Events Center and is open free to the
