Editor's Note: Back by popular demand. Coming off another historic
season which featured the program's record-14th consecutive regular
season Horizon League championship, as always there is a lot of
anticipation for the next season in Green Bay women's basketball. Every
Thursday throughout the summer, Assistant Director
of Athletics Communications Jill Wunrow
will sit down with one player to talk
about the expectations they have for themselves for the upcoming season
and
what fans can expect to see from them individually. This week we catch
up with redshirt freshman Ellen Edison who is looking forward to putting
on a Green Bay uniform after suffering a knee injury.

How excited are you to
have the opportunity to step on the floor and compete this year as soon as
you've been cleared from your ACL injury?
"I could not be more
excited to get on the floor. Through watching from the sidelines last year I've
built up a lot of excitement and eagerness to play with my teammates."
What have you learned
throughout the past year being on the sidelines?
"I've learned a lot
about our team as a cohesive unit, whether that's on the offensive or defensive
side of the ball as well as leadership styles and personalities off the court.
I also think I've learned how important it is to not put my identity only into
basketball because injuries happen all the time."
You have the honor of
playing for coach Borseth this season. Does that make you nervous knowing he
wasn't the coach who recruited you or are you excited?
"I'm not as much
nervous as I am excited. Growing up I always loved trying out for teams and
there is something exciting about first impressions, especially after coming
back from an injury."
What have you seen from
coach Borseth during the little time you've gotten to work with him and what
excites you about him being your coach?
"Without a doubt, his
energy. He has a positive energy about him that you can't help but want to do
well and play hard for him and your teammates."
What do you expect your
role to be this season and how will you go about fulfilling that role the best
you can?
"With hard work, I hope
to come off the bench and bring tough defense and hit some shots. In order to
do that I need to get my legs in top shape and continue to push myself in
August and throughout the season."
What are your goals for
the 2012-13 season?
"First and foremost, I
want to feel confident playing alongside my teammates, and after that, just
play to my potential regardless of my injury. I already had to sit out last
year because of something I couldn't control; I don't want to be in the same
situation because I wasn't working hard enough."
What do you feel will
be your biggest challenge this season after being absent a season from practice
and competition?
"I think my biggest
challenge is going to be the physical aspect of the game. My teammates are
strong and fast and I'm going to try my hardest to match that."
What will it be like
for you to step on the floor for the first time in a Green Bay uniform?
"Being a Division I at
Green Bay will finally feel real. Sure, I was a part of the team last season
but it pained me to watch and not be able to play. Butterflies are definitely
in order."
Having the role of
being an observer and cheerleader while doing rehab on the sidelines last
season, what can and will you bring to the team this season on the court?
"I'd like to bring a
competitive spirit, hit some shots and play tough defense all while being the
best team player I can be."
Should you have any
free time during the summer months, what do you typically spend your day doing?
"Being a Minnesotan I
love to go to the lake and go fishing don't chyah know? Seriously thought, I
like to spend time with my family, friends and boyfriend I rarely get to see. I
also like to dabble in some artwork I don't have much time for during the
school year."
Favorite ice cream or
summer treat and why?
"Nothing beats my mom's
fresh cut fruit salad because it is refreshing during these hot summers."
