GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - The Green Bay women's basketball team will begin its quest for a record-15th consecutive regular season Horizon League title as it tips off 2012-13 conference play Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 against Detroit. The League office released its full 16-game conference schedule Friday morning.

The first contest of the 2012-13 Horizon League schedule will feature a rematch of the 2012 Horizon League Championship game with Green Bay hosting Detroit Jan. 8 at the Kress Events Center. It will be the third consecutive season the Phoenix opens Horizon League play at home and the second time in three seasons it will battle the Titans in its opening game.

Green Bay's complete 2012-13 schedule as well as ticket information will be released in the near future.

The Phoenix hosts Wright State Saturday, Jan. 12 to wrap up its opening conference homestand before tipping off a four-game road stretch beginning at Cleveland State (Jan. 17) and Youngstown State (Jan. 19) followed by Valparaiso (Jan. 26) and Wright State (Jan. 28).

Five of Green Bay's seven games in the month of February will be played at home beginning with UIC (Feb. 2) before hitting the road south for a short trip to Loyola (Feb. 7). The Phoenix will then have a four-game homestand beginning with in-state rival Milwaukee (Feb. 9). Cleveland State and Youngstown State will visit the Kress Events Center Feb. 14 and Feb. 16 respectively before Valpo wraps up the homestand Feb. 23. Green Bay wraps up February competition on the road at Detroit Feb. 28.

The final month of regular season Horizon League play for the Phoenix will feature a contest at UIC (March 2) before it hosts Loyola (March 7) in its regular season home finale. Green Bay wraps up its Horizon League schedule on the road at Milwaukee March 9.

The Horizon League Tournament will take place March 11-17.

Three new coaches will be featured in Horizon League competition in Green Bay's Kevin Borseth, Milwaukee's Kyle Rechlicz and Valparaiso's Tracey Dorow. Borseth returns to the Phoenix after coaching the University of Michigan for the past five seasons. During his first tenure at Green Bay (1998-2007) Borseth led the Phoenix to a 216-62 overall record, receiving Horizon League Coach of the Year honors seven times in addition to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, advancing to the second round twice.

Five All-League performers return to the court this season including Co-Newcomers of the Year in Detroit's Shareta Brown and Wright State's Kim Demmings. Cleveland State's Shalonda Winton was a 2011-12 First Team All-League selection while Green Bay's Adrian Ritchie (De Pere, Wis.) was a Second Team All-League selection along with Youngstown State's Brandi Brown.
