On Saturday, the Phoenix started by winning the doubles point against UMKC, and then went on to take five of the six singles matches. Sophomore Michael Tenzer (Neuried, Germany) paced Green Bay with a 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1, while senior Craig Cox (Surrey, England) picked up a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 2.

In the 5-2 loss to Drake (4-1), the host Bulldogs opened by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Freshman Howard Scott (Exeter, England) and sophomore Michael Tebon (Excelsior, Minn.) picked up Green Bay's lone doubles victory, pulling out an 8-7 (6) win at No. 3 over Ben Mullis and Grant Tesmer.

Tenzer earned a hard-fought victory over a tough opponent at No. 2 singles, defeating No. 86 Alen Salibasic in a three-set thriller. Tenzer opened with a 7-6 (4) win in the opening set before Salibasic knotted things up with a 7-6 (5) win in set number two. Tenzer was able to bounce back in the tiebreaker, prevailing 10-6 to earn Green Bay's first point.

Freshman Leopold Gomez Islinger (Weiden, Germany) nabbed the second point of the day for the Phoenix at No. 4, defeating Jean Erasmus 7-5, 3-6, 7-6 (5).

After playing its first five matches away from home, the Phoenix will return to Western Racquet and Fitness Club on Saturday, Feb. 9, for a pair of contests. Green Bay will host Kenyon College 2:30 p.m. and UW-Whitewater at 6 p.m.
