GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's tennis team swept Western Illinois 7-0 on Sunday morning at Western Racquet and Fitness Club, improving to 10-5 overall and a perfect 5-0 on its home court. The Phoenix bounced back from a 4-1 loss at No. 49 Wisconsin on Saturday in Madison.

Green Bay rolled to a pair of convincing doubles wins and then rattled off five straight-set singles victories in Sunday's triumph over the Leathernecks. WIU had an incomplete lineup, giving the Phoenix victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.

Michael Tenzer (Neuried, Germany) and Howard Scott (Exeter, England) cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, taking down Max Cederkall and Brandon Meeker, and Michael Tebon (Excelsior, Minn.) and Marius Merz (Heidelberg, Germany) knocked off Chris Bunch and Brett Furmanski 8-1 to help deliver the match's opening point.

Tenzer and Scott won at the top two spots in singles action, as Tenzer beat Mitch Granger 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 and Scott downed Cederkall 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1. Also winning their singles contests in straight sets on Sunday were Joey Leto (Downers Grove, Ill.) at No. 3, Rowan Isaaks (London, England) at No. 4 and Jorge Gonzalez Soler (Madrid, Spain) at No. 5.

The Phoenix secured the doubles point on Saturday against the Badgers, but ultimately fell 4-1 after the hosts claimed wins at the top four singles spots.

Tebon and Leto won a tight contest at No. 2 doubles, defeating Wisconsin's Alexander Kokorev and John Zordani 8-7 (5), while Isaaks and Gomez Islinger won 8-3 at No. 3 over Petr Satral and Elliott Sprecher.

Gonzalez Soler was leading his No. 6 singles contest 7-5, 5-4 against Zordani, but the match went unfinished when the Badgers clinched the fourth and final point.

Green Bay's next two matches will be played in Florida, as the Phoenix travels to Stetson on March 18 before taking on Farleigh Dickinson in Orlando on March 20.
