CLEVELAND, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Playing on the road on Saturday afternoon, the Green Bay men's tennis team found itself trailing Cleveland State 3-1. Staying unbeaten in Horizon League play, Green Bay (13-7, 3-0 HL) rallied to take the final three singles matches and post a 4-3 road victory over the host Vikings.

“I'm really proud of the way our guys fought until the last point today,” said head coach Mark Thomas. “We didn't play well in the doubles, but we were able to refocus and pull out the four singles victories. I'm especially proud of freshman Jorge Gonzalez Soler to clinch a 4-3 match on the road against our big rival. It was an exciting day for Green Bay men's tennis.”

After earning the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, Cleveland State (12-7, 3-1 HL) won two of the first three singles matches to move just one point from victory. Sophomore Leopold Gomez Islinger (Weiden, Germany) had earned Green Bay's first point with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.

Sophomore Howard Scott (Exeter, England) started Green Bay's comeback, winning 6-2, 7-5 at No. 3 singles. Reigning Horizon League Player of the Week Michael Tenzer then evened the match at 3-3 with a 7-5, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles.

The deciding match at No. 6 singles was left in the hands of Gonzalez Soler, who had missed Green Bay's last match due to injury. The Phoenix freshman took the opening set before his opponent Nolan Marks grabbed set two 6-2. In the final set, Gonzalez Soler won the final two games for a 7-5 win that secured the Phoenix victory.

Green Bay will be back in action on Sunday morning, playing at Youngstown State at 9 a.m.
