By: Stephen Wagner

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay swimming and diving teams wrapped up their second meet, in as many days, in Indiana today, with both squads prevailing over host Valparaiso in Horizon League dual action. The women's squad claimed victories in nine of the 11 events, routing the Crusaders 127-72. The men did not break the mold of successful performances and bested the women's squad by one event, claiming 10 of the meet's 11 events, defeating league-foe Valparaiso 121-71.

Stephanie Garvin (West Chicago, Ill.) continued her winning ways this afternoon, touching the wall first in another two individual events. Garvin claimed victory in the 1000 free (10:43.12) for the second time in the road trip to Indiana, and showed off her versatility by adding a win in the 100 free (54.10) to her meet resume.

Claire Friederick also turned in some solid performances for the Phoenix this afternoon, claiming two individual victories of her own in the 50 free (25.24) and the 100 back (59.62). Friederick also aided the 200-yard medley relay consisting of herself, Autumn Roepsch, Marissa Warren and Racheal Weiland to a victory with a time of 1:50.07, marking her third victory of the meet.

Other individual event winners on the women's side included Natalie Neuwirth (Stevens Point, Wis.) who touched the wall first in the 200 free with 1:55.70, Racheal Weiland (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) who claimed victory in the 500 free (5:11.02) and Marlee Kiander (Tomahawk, Wis.) who finished first in the 100 breast with 1:08.60.

Zack Parkin (Middleton, Wis.) continued his stellar freshman campaign as he won two individual events for the second time this week, taking home first place finishes in the 100 free (48.33) and the 50 free (21.65). Parkin also aided the trio of Alec Rutkowski, Ryan Korslin and Ben Loeffelholz to a victory in the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.11).

Fellow freshman Alec Rutkowski (Dubuque, Iowa), who swam on the relay with Parkin, claimed two individual wins of his own in the Horizon League dual, touching the wall first in the 200 IM (1:57.52) and the 100 back (52.57).

Other individual event winners on the men's side consisted of: Andrew Sackett (Monona, Wis.) who touched the wall first in the 200 free with 1:48.09, Andy Cooper (Peoria, Ill.) who claimed victory in the 1000 free (10:03.61), Brian Borden who picked up a win of his own in 500 free (4:46.21) and Evan Miller (Wausau, Wis.) who finished first in the 100 fly with 52.65.

The women's squad returns to action on Jan. 24, when they welcome Youngstown State to the Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium at 12 p.m., while the men's team travels to Butler on Jan. 25 to take on the Bulldogs.
