MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's tennis team traveled west to take on the No. 46 Minnesota Golden Gophers on Friday morning.

The Phoenix battled in all six singles matches but Minnesota won the match 6-1.

Green Bay junior Leopold Gomez Islinger (Weiden, Germany) posted the lone victory for the Phoenix, winning the No. 2 singles match in a super tiebreaker by a score of 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (10-5).

Newcomer Joshua Schramm (Brunsbuttel, Germany) also found himself in a super tiebreaker situation for Green Bay, but fell 7-5, 2-5, 0-1 (10-7) to Minnesota's Felix Corwin, who is ranked No. 117 in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Minnesota (4-1) claimed the doubles point by winning the No. 2 and No. 3 matches, despite the fact that Green Bay's No. 1 doubles team of senior Michael Tenzer (Neuried, Germany) and junior Howard Scott (Exeter, England) was leading the No. 1 team from Minnesota 5-3. The Gophers' No. 1 pair of Leandro Toledo and Corwin are ranked No. 58 in the ITA doubles rankings, with Toledo ranked No. 17 in singles play. Green Bay's Tenzer is ranked No. 77 in singles play.

Green Bay (2-2) will return home this Sunday to host UW-Whitewater at 9 a.m. at the Western Racquet Club.
