GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Posting its 28th-straight home victory, Green Bay (7-3) used strong singles play on Sunday morning at Western Racquet and Fitness Center to defeat visiting DePaul 5-2 in non-conference men's tennis action. The Blue Demons were coming off a 6-1 victory over No. 51 Purdue on Friday but could not prevent the Phoenix from a fourth-straight win.

DePaul swept the three doubles matches to take the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead, but Green Bay responded in convincing fashion in singles action.

Junior Leopold Gomez-Islinger (Weiden, Germany) was the first player to win, taking two-straight sets (6-2, 6-4) against David Vieyra to tie the match at 1-1.

Junior Joey Leto (Downers Grove, Ill.) put the Phoenix in front with a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles, and junior Howard Scott (Exeter, England) put the hosts on the brink of victory with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles.

Senior Michael Tenzer (Neuried, Germany), the two-time reigning Horizon League Player of the Year, took the opening set 6-1 but fell behind 3-1 in set two. Tenzer rallied with five-straight games to win his match and give the Phoenix the victory.

With the match decided, sophomore Joshua Schramm (Brunsbuttel, Germany) battled back after dropping the first set at No. 5 singles. The newcomer won set two 6-3 before taking the third set tiebreak 10-6.

Green Bay begins a stretch of 11 consecutive matches away from home on Sunday, Feb. 22, playing at Marquette at noon as Thomas looks for his 100th career win at the helm of the Phoenix program.
