INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay men's tennis dropped the doubles point, then swiftly claimed all six singles matches in a 6-1 win over Butler on Sunday.
Freshman Florian Kraenzler (Puchheim, Germany) got things rolling at No. 4 singles when he tallied a 6-2, 6-1 win that tied the match at 1-1.
The Phoenix (9-4) never looked back, with senior Michael Tenzer (Neuried, Germany) securing the No. 1 singles match 6-4, 6-3 and junior Leopold Gomez Islinger (Weiden, Germany) winning at No. 2 singles 6-1, 7-5.
Junior Howard Scott (Exeter, England) clinched the match with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles, giving Green Bay a decisive 4-1 lead.
Sophomore Joshua Schramm (Brunsbuttel, Germany) finished out his match at No. 5 singles with the victory already in hand for the Phoenix, winning 6-3, 2-6, 10-8. Junior Joey Leto (Downers Grove, Ill.) did the same, getting a win at No. 6 singles 6-4, 7-5.
Green Bay will return to action on Saturday, March 7 when it travels to Madison to take on in-state rival Wisconsin at 11 a.m. The Phoenix will return to home action on Saturday, April 11.
