Stephanie Londre Named Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award Recipient

By: Stephen Wagner

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Junior Stephanie Londre (Burlington, Wis.) was named the 2015 Women's Herb Foster Sportsmanship Award recipient  for her attitude towards competitors on and off the court this season, as announced by the league office at the Horizon League banquet this evening.

The award is named after the former Wright State coach who exemplified the values of the league and encouraged student-athletes to compete with sportsmanship. The honor is voted upon by the conference's head coaches for the player's display of sportsmanship throughout the season.

“This is a well-deserved honor for Steph,” said head coach Sommer May. “She leads our team at the No. 1 spot with unwavering honesty, composure, and respect for her opponents.  Win or lose, she is always able to walk off the court with integrity.  Steph is a great example of what all student-athletes should strive to be.”

Londre played No. 1 singles in every match for the Phoenix this season, collecting five match victories on the year. Londre also teamed up with Maria Neff for a good portion of the season in doubles play, with the duo collecting three victories on the No. 2 and 3 courts combined.
