GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's tennis team returned to the win column on Saturday afternoon, as it defeated the Butler Bulldogs, 6-1, in Indianapolis, Ind.

After falling to Western Michigan on Friday, the Phoenix were faced with a quick turnaround as it traveled nearly 200 miles overnight from Kalamazoo, Mich., before taking the courts once again at 2 p.m. Central.

"The guys showed great resiliency after a tough loss last night," said head coach Daniel Bickett. "Butler is a tough team and this was a strong win."

Butler came from behind to win the doubles point, 2-1, despite trailing 1-0. After Green Bay's No. 2 pairing of Howard Scott and Joey Leto came away with a victory, 6-3, Miles McDowall and Rowan Isaaks (No. 3) fell 6-3 to Spencer Lang and Adrian Mag and Mikheil Khmiadashvili and Mason Dragos handed Phoenix No. 1 Leo Gomez Islinger and Florian Kraenzler a hard-fought 7-6 (4) tiebreaker loss.

Green Bay ruled the day from there on out; however, as it swept all six singles for the first time since April 12 last season against Youngstown State. The sophomore Kraenzler ended first with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 4, and was followed by Gomez Islinger (W, 6-3, 6-1), Scott (W, 6-1, 6-4), Joshua Schramm (W, 7-5, 6-1), Matej Kostadinov (6-3, 3-6, 10-6) and Leto (5-7, 6-4, 10-7).

The Phoenix will conclude its road trip on Sunday morning in Toledo, Ohio, against the Toledo Rockets. First serve is slated for 11 a.m. Central.
