WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Green Bay men's tennis sophomore
Ivan Radomirovic finished a perfect 4-0 and captured Flight E Individuals at this past weekend's Purdue Fall Invitational, while five other Phoenix players competed and helped Green Bay finish with a combined 11-6 record in individual action. The Phoenix doubles teams finished the weekend with a combined 7-4 record, with three teams going 2-1.
Radomirovic did not lose a set at the ITA sanctioned event, beating players from Butler, Illinois State and Washington University. The sophomore was in contention last season for Horizon League Freshman of the Year honors, but that recognition ultimately went to Cleveland State's Nico Mostardi.
Reigning Horizon First Team All-League performer
Florian Kraenzler finished 2-1 in Flight A singles, defeating Dan Wright from Bucknell 6-3, 6-3 and Agustin Gascia from Cardinal Stritch 6-4, 6-4. Kraenzler fell in three sets in the Flight A semifinals, despite winning the opening set 7-5.
Newcomer
Charlie Croxford also went 2-1, competing in Flight B singles. Croxford picked up wins over Nicola Wehrle (6-4, 7-6) of Cardinal Stritch and Ali Mooraj (6-4, 6-2) from Purdue.
Tony Leto dropped his first match, but bounced back to win his next two over Shaun Berman (Washington University) 6-3, 7-5, and Eric Hollingworth (IUPUI) 6-2, 6-2.
The doubles teams of Kraenzler/Ling, McDowall/Triebe and Leto/Radomirovic each went 2-1 in their respective flights.
