MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Green Bay men's tennis team got back to its winning ways on Sunday morning, defeating South Dakota State 5-2 on Marquette's campus in Milwaukee.
The Phoenix (4-6) cruised in doubles play to go up 1-0, before Ivan Radomirovic dominated at No. 6 singles to give the team a 2-0 lead. Florian Kraenzler won at No. 1 singles, while James Ling won at No. 2 singles to clinch the win for GB. Charlie Croxford also won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles and GB had a chance to earn the 7-0 sweep before dropping tough three-set matches at No. 4 and No. 5.
Head coach Tim Dean on SDSU match: "A solid team win. All eight guys played today and contributed well. In doubles, we jumped out fast, breaking their first service games at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Singles was solid as well. Ivan really played smart and took care of things quickly to get the rest of the guys going. Our energy was great and overall, we're very happy with today's win."
GB will visit Wisconsin on Sunday, Mar. 4, in Madison for its next match. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
