MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's tennis team concluded their opening weekend today, falling to Big Ten members Minnesota. After missing out on the doubles point, the Phoenix were unable to come away with even one singles match win.
"It was tough match against a team that made the Elite 8 last year," head coach
Brian Nelson pointed out. "We didn't quite push them as well as we hoped, but it's great to play a top team in the country so the men can see what the level would be like at the NCAA Tournament. I still feel good about the weekend and I believe we will get better each week by playing a challenging nonconference schedule."
Green Bay (0-2) now has a bit of time off to train before their next round of road matches. On Friday, Feb. 1 the men will travel to Valparaiso for a 4:00 match before heading to Purdue for a duel the following day.
