HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- Playing its first of four out of five games on the road, Green Bay fell 87-65 to Horizon League-leading Northern Kentucky on Thursday night at the BB&T Arena. GB (10-11, 4-4 HL) shot just 4-for-20 from beyond the arc and was outrebounded 44-28 by the Norse (17-4, 7-1 HL).
The Phoenix fell behind by as many as 23 points in the second half, but did get the game within 9 points with just over 5 minutes to play. NKU answered with another one of its many runs in the game, which was highlighted by a 13-0 run with NKU leading 21-20, which kickstarted a run that continued into the second half of an overall run of 30-8.
Sandy Cohen III led GB with 19 points and 9 rebounds, while
JayQuan McCloud (11 points) and
ShanQuan Hemphill (10 points) each finished in double-figures.
GB will look to earn the weekend split when it visits Wright State, which defeated Milwaukee by two tonight, on Saturday night for a 7 p.m. ET tip at the Nutter Center.
