GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Anna Liu of the Green Bay Phoenix swimming and diving team has collected her second Horizon League Female Swimmer of the Week honor of the season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The sophomores was selected for the award after her performances at the last home meet of the season last week against Milwaukee. To view the full results from the meet, click HERE.
Liu was an unstoppable force against Milwaukee this weekend, breaking two Peter F. Dorschel Natatorium pool records, winning each of her individual events, and earning two personal best times.
She posted a time of 50.88 in the 100 freestyle, winning by three whole seconds and breaking the previous pool record by over half a second. Her time also moves her into second place in the Horizon League standings this season.
In the 100 butterfly, the sophomore won by more than three seconds, breaking another pool record by almost half a second. The 55.78 moves her into third in the conference.
In addition, her 1:52.80 lead-off split in the 800 free relay was the fastest 200 freestyle flat start out of any league swimmer this weekend. Finally, Liu was a member of the first-place 200 medley relay that beat the Panthers by three seconds.
While the divers have one more competition this Saturday at UIC, the full team is also preparing for the Horizon League Swimming and Diving Championships, beginning on February 13 and going through February 16.
