COLUMBUS, Ohio (GreenBayPhoenix.com) ---The Green Bay men's tennis team participated in the ITA Midwest Regionals this past weekend.
Freshman
Satchel Benn was the top-performer for the Phoenix, going 2-1 on the weekend.  Benn opened up with a victory over UIC's Anthony Nguyen (4-6, 6-1, 7-5). He then followed that up with a win over Ohio State's Jacob Wareti (6-2, 7-5), before being defeated by DePaul's Luuk Wassener (6-1, 6-4).
"The regional tournament is always a big challenger for a mid-major," said head coach Rob Oertel. "Nonetheless, it's important for our guys to gain that experience and play against some high-level competition."
The doubles duo of
George Botha and
Dipin Wadhwa went 1-1 at the regionals for Green Bay as well. The two defeated Valparaiso's Langston/Leithold 8-6, before falling Notre Dame's Cabrera/Howells 8-5.
