Box Score GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's tennis team (4-11, 0-2 HL) fell to preseason poll favorites Cleveland State (11-7, 1-0 HL) at home Sunday to conclude the first weekend of conference play.
Junior
Lachlan Napier played well for the Phoenix, picking up a win at the no. 3 doubles spot alongside senior
Charlie Croxford, and managing to grab a set win during his singles match.
"Overall, we played a lot better in doubles today than yesterday," said head coach
Brian Nelson. "We almost were able to get the doubles point but lost the no. 1 spot in a close breaker. In singles, we seemed a little tired after battling yesterday in several third-set matches, and it showed."
The team is confident, however: "This weekend we played two teams that were favored in the top two preseason spots. We will get better and look forward to the next matches."
Green Bay will have the next weekend off to train, but the Phoenix will appear at home again on April 6 at noon for their annual Senior Day.
