(ROCKFORD, Ill.)---The Green Bay women's tennis team fell in their season opener this afternoon to Northern Illinois by the final score of 1-6.
The lone victory of the day for the Phoenix came from junior
Estelle Vanthier in No. 2 singles. Vanthier defeated NIU's Brodie Walker 6-1, 6-4. Sophomore
Yasmin Glazbrook and senior
Theresa Tebon both took their singles matches to three sets for Green Bay, but were defeated.
Unfortunately, the Phoenix were unsuccessful in all three of their double matches on the day against the Huskies.
"The women competed hard and the effort was solid during each match," stated head coach Rob Oertel. "Getting better both physically and mentally each day is vital in the coming weeks. Coach Burns claimed that this is by far the best he has seen a Green Bay women's team play and compete against."
