BRILLION, Wis. – The Green Bay Nordic Skiing team hosted their first home event at Ariens Nordic Center in Brillion, Wis. this past weekend, with Michigan Tech, Northern Michigan, and College of St. Scholastica visiting Titletown.
GB finished fourth in the 7.5K Skate on Saturday and fourth in the Classic Team Sprint on Sunday.
After his strong performance last weekend,
Ryan Thieme once again led the Phoenix in the 7.5K Skate with a 20:51.3 time and eighth place finish. Saturday was Thieme's first-career CCSA top-10 finish.
Noah Erickson,
CJ Young, and
Grant Rocheleau were the next three Phoenix to cross the finish line in 23
rd, 24
th, and 25
th, respectively.
Lilly Franzen paced the women on Saturday with a 21
st place finish in 22:20.4.
Silje Busklein and
Jenna Johnson were right behind her, finishing in 23
rd and 25
th place.
In the team sprint on Sunday, GB was led by the duo of
Noah Erickson and
Lilly Franzen, who finished 19
th with a time of 33:05.2. Right behind them in 21
st was
Ryan Thieme and
Silje Busklein with a final time of 33:50.9.
CJ Young and
Kiera Rotar finished 27
th,
Derek Waddick and
Jenna Johnson finished 28
th, and
Grant Rocheleau and
Chelsey Johnson finished 32
nd.
COMING UP
Green Bay has a weekend off before the CCSA Conference Championships in Duluth, Minn. on Feb. 10-11. The races will take place at Spirit Mountain Nordic Center.
