DELAND, Fla. – The Green Bay softball team wrapped up day two at the Stetson Invitational Saturday evening.
GAME 1: Green Bay 1, Maryland 9
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Terrapins' Sydney Lewis ripped a 2-RBI double to right-center to give Maryland a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Green Bay responded in the bottom half of the frame when Samantha Saloun brought in Paige Hanson on a double. Maryland responded with two more runs in the top of the second and later tacked on three runs of insurance in the sixth inning. The Terrapins took advantage of five Phoenix defensive miscues and piled up 14 hits, defeating GB 9-1.
GAME NOTES
>> Three different Phoenix tallied a hit: Hailey Heckenlaible, Saloun, and freshman Gianna Camacho, who collected her first collegiate hit.
GAME 2: Green Bay 3, Stetson 4
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hatters tallied a run in each of the first two frames before GB got on the board in the third. Hanson lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Heckenlaible. Saloun ensued with a scorcher to right field that wasn't handled cleanly by Madelyn Synoracki, scoring Kendal Herschbach. Heckenlaible gave Green Bay the lead in the fourth on an RBI single to left, plating Viviana Guzman. Stetson rallied in the sixth to tie the game on an RBI groundout to third. The Phoenix was retired in order in the seventh, and Stetson walked off GB on a Lath Freeman single that scored Synoracki.

>> Heckenlaible went 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI.
