INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The IUPUI Jaguars proved to be too much for the Green Bay softball team on Saturday, as the Phoenix lost 5-2 on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Phoenix got on the scoreboard first in the third inning. Samantha Saloun doubled down the left field line to score Bella Herman.
Green Bay didn't hold that lead long, as IUPUI responded in the third inning with four runs. The Jaguars tacked on another in the sixth and took a 5-1 lead heading into the seventh inning.
GB threatened in the seventh with a leadoff double from Gianna Sanchez but could only bring home one run and fell 5-2.
Martha Miller got the ball to start once again for Green Bay, going six innings, giving up five runs, one earned, on 10 hits, allowing one walk, and striking out three.
GAME NOTES
» Green Bay was outhit by IUPUI 10-6.
» Saloun led the Phoenix at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
» Six different Phoenix had hits on Saturday.
» Anna Trimble and Kaylin Fahy each stole a base.
UP NEXT
Green Bay will travel to St. Paul, Minn. on Wednesday for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. CT. Next weekend the Phoenix will host Purdue Fort Wayne in a single game on Friday at 2 p.m. CT and a Saturday doubleheader starting at noon CT.
