GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay softball team led for much of Friday's game but gave up six runs in the top of the fifth inning en route to an 8-3 loss. The Phoenix and Vikings will complete the series with a doubleheader tomorrow starting at 11 a.m.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Phoenix got on the board with a run in the second inning after an RBI triple from Lauren Porter to score Hailey Heckenlaible. CSU later took their 6-1 lead before the Phoenix bounced back with two runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The Phoenix was unable to get any closer, as Cleveland State added two runs to their tally on the way to an 8-3 final after a two-RBI triple to left center.
Martha Miller got the ball to start for Green Bay and took the loss. A pair of errors in the field proved costly for Green Bay as five of the eight Cleveland State runs were unearned.
