GREEN BAY, Wis. – Genesis Eggart was dealing on Friday, throwing a three-hit shutout to lead the Green Bay softball team over the Youngstown State Penguins, 3-0 at King Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Eggart squared off against YSU's Kelsey Ogin, who also pitched well on the day. Both pitchers held the offenses scoreless until the fifth inning when Madyson Baker had a pinch-hit RBI single to make it 1-0. In the next at bat, Sara Ebner homered (her second of the year) to left field to extend the Phoenix lead to 3-0 heading into the sixth inning.
Eggart allowed just one runner on base in the final two innings, shutting down the Penguins offense en route to Green Bay's 10th win. Eggart struck out nine on the day.
Green Bay was led at the plate by Ebner, who was the lone Phoenix with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Kendal Herschbach, Paige Hanson, and Baker also tallied hits.
GAME NOTES
