GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Green Bay Nordic Ski team hosted the third annual Ariens Nordic CCSA Invite this past weekend, competing as a team in the 15K Skate Individual Start on Sunday.
Both the men's and the women's team finished third as a team, with Green Bay racking up 90 points across both genders. Northern Michigan won the event with 140 points, while Michigan Tech finished second with 114.
Several Phoenix skiers led the team with personal-best finishes, including
Lilly Franzen (5
th),
Silje Busklein (10
th), and
Jenna Johnson (16
th) on the women's side. Several men also had personal-best finishes, including
Noah Erickson (12
th),
Zaine Braaten (13
th), and
Samuel Folland (23
rd). Another top finisher for Green Bay was
Cameron Cruickshank, who finished 11
th.
Franzen led the Phoenix women with her fifth-place finish that took 34:30.5, Busklein crossed the finish in 35:57.1, and Johnson did so in 36:40.4.
Cruickshank crossed the finish line first for the Phoenix men, racing the 15K in 30:16.0.
Noah Erickson was a hair behind at 30:16.1, followed by Braaten's 30:20.9. Folland's personal-best finish came after he crossed the finish in 31:23.5.
Green Bay is back in action right away this weekend at the MTU Invite hosted by Michigan Tech at the Tech Trails. The 5K Classic Individual Start will take place on Saturday, January 31, and the 20K Skate Mass Start the following day.
