Green Bay Opens Lindenwood Invite with 8-6 Win over Lindenwood

ST. CHARLES, Mo. - The Green Bay Phoenix softball rallied from down 5-4 in the fifth inning to earn their first win of the 2026 season, defeating the Lindenwood Lions 8-6 on Thursday to open the Lindenwood Invite.

In the batter's box, the Phoenix were led by another freshman, Gracie Anderson, who went 2-for-3, blasting her first career home run, adding a double, a walk, and two RBIs. Kendal Herschbach also helped out for Green Bay, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding the game-tying RBI in the sixth. Paige Guse finished the day 3-for-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions then tied the ballgame at one before the Phoenix came back to reclaim their advantage in the second inning. Paige Guse came across to score the lone run of the inning for Green Bay thanks to an RBI sac fly from Jenna Redders. Green Bay kept Lindenwood scoreless before expanding its lead to 3-1 after Anderson's homer.

Green Bay kept the offense going in the fourth, with Redders driving in another, this time Anna Trimble, to make the score 4-1.

Lindenwood then mounted a comeback, scoring 4 unanswered runs to take a 5-4 lead heading into the sixth. However, the Phoenix tied the game when Herschbach scored Aidyn Messmann on an RBI single, before Guse scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball. The Green Bay offense piled up two more runs in the sixth, finished off by a one-run single off the bat of freshman Katherine Filkowski to score Bella Herman.
