Phoenix Scores 13 Unanswered Runs to Take Down St. Bonaventure

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Green Bay Phoenix softball team rallied from down 0-2, and scored 13 unanswered runs en route to a 13-2 win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday in their first game of the Boilermaker Softball Classic hosted by Purdue.

Ava Schill (1-4) got her first win of the 2026 season for Green Bay (3-14). The right-hander pitched the first three innings, giving up two runs on four hits, walking just one batter, and striking out two.

The Phoenix bats were on fire, with nine different Phoenix reaching base on hits led by a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate from Emma Krueger. Gracie Anderson was close behind with a 2-for-3 day at the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bonnies scored two runs to open the game thanks to a two-RBI double from Kendall Stull, giving them a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom half of the first inning.

The Phoenix answered immediately, scoring a run from Krueger's RBI to bring the score 2-1 after one. After a scoreless second for both teams, Green Bay blew the lid off in the third inning with seven runs, their highest scoring inning of 2026 thus far.

The scoring started with Paige Guse's single to tie the game, followed by a Sidney LaMotte sacrifice RBI on a groundout to give the Phoenix the lead. After a single from Aidyn Messmann scored the third run of the inning, Sara Ebner was hit by a pitch to walk in the Phoenix's fourth run. The final three runs of the inning came when Brooke Schwall smashed a bases-emptying double, giving the Phoenix an 8-2 lead through three innings.
The Phoenix picked up where they left off in the fourth inning, scoring four more runs to extend the lead to 13-2. Green Bay's offense took advantage of a pair of Bonnies errors in the frame.
St. Bonaventure had no answer for Paeton Kringel, who pitched the final two scoreless innings in relief for the Phoenix. Kringel gave up three hits, walking two batters, and fanning two.
