WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Green Bay softball team defeated St. Bonaventure 12-3 before falling to Purdue 8-0 on Sunday in the Boilermaker Softball Classic.
GAME 1 | Green Bay 12, St. Bonaventure 3
Ava Schill (1-4) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Green Bay (4-14). The right-hander went 4.1 shutout innings while giving up one hit, allowing four walks, and striking out two.
Sara Ebner went 1-for-2 at the plate with a home run and two walks in addition to her three RBIs, and
Emma Krueger put together a 2-for-3 day with a walk, supplementing her three RBI performance for the Phoenix.
Aidyn Messmann compiled a standout day at the plate as well, going 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Phoenix got on the board immediately, with two runs in the top of the first inning. Krueger drove in two runs for Green Bay with a single that scored Ebner and
Bella Herman. St. Bonaventure scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-2 lead. Krueger drove in Herman to tie the game at three runs in the second inning.
The 3-3 tie turned into a 9-3 Green Bay lead in the third. The Phoenix bats heated up in the inning, scoring six runs, starting with a two-run homer from Messmann, a two-run double off the bat of junior
Sidney LaMotte, and a two-run double from freshman
Gracie Anderson.
Ebner launched a homerun to expand the Phoenix lead to 12-3 in the top of the fourth inning. Schill threw a scoreless fifth inning to mercy-rule the Bonnies.

» Messman had three base knocks in the game for Green Bay.
» Green Bay's highest scoring inning was the third, when it pushed six runs across.
» The Phoenix out-hit the Bonnies at a 10-3 clip.
» Green Bay went 5-for-14 (.357) with runners in scoring position.
» Green Bay pitchers faced 23 Saint Bonaventure hitters in the game, allowing seven ground balls and four fly balls while striking out two.
» The Phoenix drew nine walks from Saint Bonaventure pitching.
» Saint Bonaventure was led offensively by junior Sydney DeGram, who went 1-for-1 with two walks.
GAME 2 | Purdue 8, Green Bay 0
Freshman
Jasmyn Trigueros (2-5) started the game for the Phoenix, pitching three innings, allowing six runs, three earned, six hits, while also recording three strikeouts.
The Phoenix offense had two hits coming from LaMotte and
Jenna Redders.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Purdue scored four runs in both the third and fourth innings to defeat Green Bay 8-0 in five innings. The Phoenix was unable to advance a runner past first base in the loss. Moriah Polar recorded a pair of RBI singles in the third and fourth innings to lead the Boilermakers.
GAME NOTES

» Purdue outhit Green Bay 9-2.
» Julia Gossett led the Boilermakers' pitching staff, throwing a complete game, five innings, and recording 11 strikeouts.
