GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay women's tennis team (1-1) recorded its
first win of the season in impressive fashion Sunday in Green Bay,
defeating Western Illinois by a 6-1 final. Green Bay won five of the
six singles matches.
Emily Lawent picked up the most dominating win, blanking Marcela
Brandao in straight sets, winning 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 1 position.
Green Bay took the top four spots as well as the No. 6 slot.
Jennifer Bradfield and
Morgan Weuve picked up key third-set wins. Bradfield
controlled the final set, winning 6-0, Weuve came back after a tough
first-set loss in a tiebreaker.
The Phoenix swept the doubles competition, winning by scores of 8-5, 8-1 and 8-2.
Green Bay is next in action on Saturday, Feb. 6 when it hosts Northern Illinois.
