GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Green Bay women's tennis team closed February with a pair of road losses, dropping a 6-1 decision at Ball State and a 7-0 contest at IPFW over the weekend. Green Bay is now 2-7 on the season as it nears the midpoint of its spring slate.
The lone singles winner for the Phoenix against Ball State was Emily Lawent (Milwaukee, Wis.), who picked up a three-set victory in the No. 1 position. She battled from behind after dropping the opening set to post a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 triumph.
Earlier in the match, Lawent paired with Lauryn Grimando (Oak Brook, Ill.) to claim an 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Against IPFW, the Phoenix's No. 2 doubles team of Jennifer Bradfield (Fairfield, Iowa) and Morgan Weuve (Green Bay, Wis.) grabbed the team's lone victory, cruising to an 8-3 win.
The Phoenix returns to action Saturday at home against Northern Iowa. Match time is set for 4 p.m. at the Green Bay Tennis Center.
