GREEN BAY, Wis. - Green Bay (6-13, 3-5 Horizon
League) closed its regular season on Saturday evening with a 7-0 defeat at home
to Detroit (6-10, 4-1). The Phoenix took three singles matches to three sets,
but was unable to pick up a victory in any of them.
Emily Lawent (Milwaukee, Wis.), at No. 1 singles,
was one of the trio of Phoenix players to fall in three sets, as she dropped a
6-3, 1-6, 10-7 decision.
Morgan Weuve (Green Bay, Wis.) engaged in the
closest battle of the day, as she fell by a 6-7 (7), 6-4, 10-5 count in the
third spot. The other nip-and-tuck contest came at No. 6, where Green Bay's Maria Anderson (Marshfield, Wis.) suffered a 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-1 loss.
Green Bay will return to action at the Horizon
League Championships April 23-25 in Indianapolis, Ind.
